How do I get a gun permit?

How do I report a crime or report a traffic accident?

  • For crimes which are in progress, accidents involving injuries or anytime you need an emergency response, call 911.
  • For non-emergency situations, call police non-emergency number 651.767.0640.

How do I check on the status of my crime investigation?

  • If you know that your case is being investigated, you can call the General Investigations Unit at 651.266.7320.

How do I get a copy of a crime or accident report?

  • Crime reports are available under the Public Information Act.
  • According to State law, only the owner of the vehicle and/or the driver of the vehicle can obtain an accident report.
  • The Records Unit, located at the Patrol Station in Arden Hills, is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • A fee of $5 is charged for each report. If you have a Case Number, please provide it to the staff, as this will help expedite the process.
  • You may also write a letter to obtain a report to the Records Unit, 1411 Paul Kirkwold Drive, Arden Hills, MN  55112.
  • There are certain circumstances when a report CANNOT be released. These circumstances may include when an investigation is on-going could be compromised, when the safety of persons may be jeopardized, or when investigative techniques may be disclosed. The release of information regarding juveniles is also restricted.

How can I get myself fingerprinted?

  • Fingerprinting services for the public are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon and also 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center (LEC), 425 Grove Street in St. Paul.  (Note: This excludes major holidays.)  There is free public parking in front of the LEC. 
  • The Criminal History Unit is located on the first floor of the LEC.
  • There is a fee of $15.00 per card/set of prints. Cash Only. No checks, debit or credit cards. You must have the exact amount, as we cannot make change.
  • Appointments are not necessary.
  • Bring a state-issued driver's license or state-issued identification card.  A passport is also accepted for identification purposes.

How do I find out my arrest record or criminal history?

  • A printed copy of an arrest history, which includes all arrests in Ramsey County, are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center (LEC), 425 Grove Street in St. Paul.  (Note: This excludes major holidays.)  There is free public parking in front of the LEC.
  • There is a $5.00 fee. Cash Only, no checks, debit or credit cards. You must have the exact amount, as we cannot make change.
  • Public may also request criminal histories via the U.S. Mail. Mail your request, with a money order or company check in the correct amount, and a self-addressed-stamped-envelope; checks and money orders should be made out to "Ramsey County Taxation". We do not accept personal checks. The document(s) will be mailed when the request and payment are received.
