Road and Bridge Projects

Ramsey County partners with the MN Department of Transportation and local communities to plan and develop road and bridge projects. Following three projects are under development:

2011 - 2012

  • Maryland Avenue at Rice Street (2012)

2012-2013

  • Highway 96/US 10 Grade Separation (2012-2013)
  • Rice Street (County Road B2 to Little Canada Road) (2012-2013)
  • Rice Street/Hodgson Road (Gramsie Road to Bridge Street) (2012-2013)
  • Warner Road Bridge (2012-2013)

Proposed Projects

Warner Road Bridge Reconstruction Project

Ramsey County, in cooperation with the City of St. Paul, is proposing to reconstruct the eastbound Warner Road Bridge over Childs Road. A portion of the westbound bridge will be modified to relocate a pier for future railroad expansion.  Ramsey County is completing the preliminary engineering phase of the project and will begin final engineering. Highway 96/US 10 Grade Separation and Highway Improvement Project in Arden Hills

Ramsey County, Minnesota Department of Transportation, the City of Arden Hills and surrounding communities have been working on a solution for the Highway 96/US Highway 10 intersection for several years. The Draft Environmental Assessment document for the proposed grade separation of Highway 96 and US 10 has been published for review and comment. Copies are available at a number of locations including the City and County offices on Highway 96 and the Shoreview and Arden Hills libraries. Ramsey County held a public hearing on December 1, 2010. Pending completion of the environmental process and final design, it is anticipated construction will begin early in 2013. Click for More information. To view a layout of this project CLICK HERE.    

Rice Street (County Road B2 to County Road C2) Reconstruction Project

Ramsey County, in cooperation with the City of Roseville and City of Little Canada, is proposing to reconstruct Rice Street from County Road B2 to County Road C2. Ramsey County is currently working on the preliminary engineering phase of the project. The project is tentatively scheduled for construction in 2012. A Public Open House meeting has been scheduled.  To view the meeting notice CLICK HERE.

Highway 49/Rice Street/Hodgson Road Reconstruction Project

Ramsey County, in cooperation with the City of Shoreview, is proposing to reconstruct Rice Street/Hodgson Road. Ramsey County is currently working on the preliminary engineering phase of the project. The project is deferred for construction to 2012 at the request of Shoreview. 

White Bear Avenue Concrete Rehabilitation

Ramsey County, in cooperation with the City of White Bear, is proposing to repair White Bear Avenue between White Bear Court and County Road F.  The work will consist of repairing pavement joints and cracks and replacing damaged concrete panels. The road surface will undergo diamond grinding to improve smoothness.  Pedestrian curb ramps will be replaced to conform to current standards. The work is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2012.

Rice Street Pavement Rehabilitation

Ramsey County, in cooperation with the cities of Roseville and Maplewood, is proposed to resurface Rice Street between Larpenteur Avenue to 700 feet south of County Road B.  This project will remove the existing asphalt and replace it.  Also, the pedestrian curb ramps will be upgraded to meet current standards.  A new signal will be installed at the intersection of Rice Street and Roselawn Avenue which will include an accessible pedestrian signal.  Construction is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2012.
