General Information
Many household products you use to clean your kitchen and bathroom, maintain your car and home, and control animal and insects contain harmful materials.  When products containing harmful materials are no longer needed, they are considered household hazardous waste.  These products should be disposed of at County Collection Sites to prevent harm to our health and the environment.   Frequently Asked Questions

Special Collection - Skin-Lightening Creams
Recent tests by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) show that some skin-lightening products sold in the Twin Cities have high levels of mercury.  Mercury in these products can damage the kidneys, affect the nervous system, or cause pain or rashes.  Unborn babies, infants, and children are very sensitive to mercury.  Pregnant women and women of child-bearing age should avoid being exposed to mercury.  Read precautions to be taken using these products and view a list and photos of skin-lightening products
