What is pollution prevention (P2)?
It's common sense. Pollution prevention is preventing waste from being created in the first place. Pollution, or waste, is an inefficient use of your company's resources and costs money. Pollution prevention is looking at the materials you use and how you can them and coming up with ways to eliminate waste at the source.
The TRUE cost of waste:
- Lost material;
- Wasted labor and production capacity;
- Liability insurance;
- Regulatory compliance costs.
Some of the benefits of P2:
- Increased efficiency and productivity;
- Improved worker health and safety;
- Reduced costs;
- Reduced liability;
- Fewer regulations;
- Improved public image;
- Preferred vendor status.
Pollution prevention is smart business. It's good for the environment and it's good for your bottom line!
